Gjennom meg går ingen til hvile

Gjennom meg går ingen til hvile from January 21st 2022 was released in loving memory of those we have lost, and cemented Stein Akslen's departure from traditional Norwegian black metal. Six years in the making, with lyrics dating back all the way to 2003, Gjennom meg går ingen til hvile was an extremely ambitious project and a highly successful behemoth of an album.

The goals for the album was huge, and Stein included several session musicians to bring forth his complex vision, for the first time including instruments such as cello, strings, saxophone, and collaborating with different vocalists with diverse styles such as opera, clean vocals, throatsinging and a choir.

Due to the graphic nature of the artwork the album was hard to promote, and even reviews got taken down from social media. The artwork on Spotify is the censored version, but the original version is available to purchase on Minneriket's bandcamp.

The album was mixed by Stein Akslen and mastered by Niklas Kveldulfsson.

In addition to this Stein did a lot of field-recordings out in nature, going to extreme lengths to get the sounds he wanted for the album. Rumours say he even auto-tuned an owl.

For the single Hjemlengsel Stein collaborated with Valhallartworks for the hugely atmospheric music video shot in the majestic landscapes of Iceland.
